The latest update of the AMD OpenCL GPU miner lolMiner 0.9 brings significant performance boost for the Cuckatoo 31 algorithm used by Grin on 8GB AMD cards (+22% on Polaris and up to 30% on Radeon VII) and reduced Grin stale shares. The new version also has the 16GB solver for GRIN-AT31 disabled as it seems that the 8GB solver is faster at the moment in terms of hashrate. Do note that currently AMD Navi support is disabled for the new algorithms and Cuckatoo-31 on ROCm drivers falls back to 4GB kernel.

Expected performance on Cuckatoo-31 (stock settings):
– Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 0.55 g/s
– Radeon Vega 64: 1.2 g/s
– Power Color Radeon VII 1.53 g/s

We remind you that lolMiner is a closed source OpenCL GPU miner available for Windows and Linux as pre-compiled binaries only and that there is a developer fee for using the software (1% for all supported algorithms). The miner should work on Nvidia GPUs with OpenCL, however stability and performance could be far from optimal, so it is best for use with AMD GPUs. The latest GMiner 1.74 miner has introduced significant performance improvements for Cuckatoo31 algorithm used by GRIN according to the mining software’s developer. We are seeing some improvement on GTX 1080 Ti and with Cuckatoo31 for GRIN and on NiceHash currently performing well compared to everything else in terms of profitability for GPU mining it might be worth giving the new miner a go. Below you can find some official performance results from GMiner’s developer on different Nvidia GPUs using the latest version 1.74, so that you can compare with your own hardware. Do note that this update does not yet include dual mining CKB+ETH, still only Eaglesong mining alone is possible.

Cuckatoo31 performance on stock GPU settings:
– Palit GTX 1070 Dual 8GB ~0.86 G/s
– MSI GTX 1080 SEA HAWK EK X 8GB ~0.96 G/s
– Gigabyte GTX 1080 Ti AORUS Waterforce WB Xtreme Edition 11GB ~1.64 G/s
– MSI RTX 2070 Armor 8GB ~1.33 G/s

The GMiner miner software was originally only an Nvidia GPU miner, although some algorithms are already supported on AMD GPUs as well. Do note that GMiner is a closed source miner for Nvidia and AMD GPUs with binaries available for both Windows and Linux, there is a 2% developer fee built-in the software.

The miniZ Nvidia GPU miner for Windows and Linux has been updated to version 1.5s and it brings some performance improvements for ZelHash, BeamHash II and ZHash – from 0.3% to 3% depending on algorithm and GPU used. The new version has removed support for old Nvidia Kepler GPUs, except for MinexCoin and Aion, though you can still use older versions of the miner for other algorithms should you need support on older Nvidia GPUs. The miniZ miner is still our preferred choice for ZelHash and ZEL mining and aside for the best performance we are also seeing an improved stability with the recent releases.

The MiniZ miner supports Equihash 144,5, Equihash 150,5, Equihash 150,5,3, as well as Equihash 192,7, Equihash 125,4, Equihash 210,9 and Equihash96,5 and the various crypto currencies that use these algorithms on compatible Nvidia GPUs. There are CUDA 8.0 and CUDA 10.0 binaries available including support for Nvidia RTX GPUS with the CUDA 10 release (check which version works better on older GPUs, CUDA 10 is required fo RTX). Have in mind that since miniZ is a closed source miner there is also a built-in developer fee of 2% percent included.
