It Is All About BTC, LTC, ETH, DOGE, KAS mining as well as other alternative crypto currencies
It did not take much time for the AMD miners to also get a GPU miner for the new Whirlpool algorithm and Whirlcoin, the first coin to use it. We now have a sph-sgminer fork with whirlpool support added again thanks to djm34 (source), the guy that just released ccMiner fork with Whirlpool support. We have compiled a windows binary from the latest source and have already tested it on an AMD Radeon R9 280X GPU to see what performance we are going to get – the result was 3300 KHS. You can download and try the windows binary yourself from the link below. Do note that this version of sph-sgminer also supports most other new algorithms as well, so you an use it for mining not only Whirlcoin. Also make sure to be using the latest 14.6/14.7 beta drivers from AMD in order to get the best performance and currently it seems that Nvidia GPU miners have some advantage in terms of performance for this algorithm.
Update: The miner has been updated to include the new updated whirlpool kernel that increases performance. With the new kernel we are getting a boost from about 3300 KHS to about 4750 KHS on a Radeon R9 280X GPU, so definitely worth upgrading if you are mining whirlcoin for example with AMD GPUs. Just redownload the miner to get the updated kernel and take advantage of the significant performance boost for whirlpool algorithm mining.

We have compiled a new windows binary of the cgminer 4.3.5 fork from the latest source with support for the Zeus-based Scrypt ASIC miners as well as Gridseed Scrypt ASICs by dmaxl. People had some trouble making the previous release work properly, especially if trying to run multiple different ASIC mienrs, so with the updated one things might be running a bit better. Do note that supports both direct serial access by specifying the COM port the miner is attached on or by using WinUSB drivers with the help of the the Zadig software (check the Readme file for more details).

We have compiled a windows binary of the new sgminer 5.0 beta based on the latest (source) and you can download and try it yourself from the link below. The sgminer 5.0 beta is trying to provide an unified and feature-full GPU miner by integrating the kernels for mining various crypto currencies in a single miner, including support the latest algorithms. We have compiled this binary in order to use it in our NiceHash Control tool based package with support for AMD GPUs and we are going to update the latest package with the new sgminer 5.0 beta shortly. We have already tried the binary with the latest AMD beta video drivers and it does work fine with slightly higher performance, so you might want to update to the 14.7 Beta drivers if you still haven’t done so. Update from the previous 14.6 beta might not bring such a performance increase, unlike updating from previous versions, where you can expect to get a better performance boost.
