yescrypt-cpu-miner

Earlier this month GPU miners for Yescrypt getting released for AMD and Nvidia GPUs were released thanks to the work of djm34. These miners however still seem to be slower in terms of performance when compared to CPU mining for Yescrypt, so we’ve decided to give a quick test on what some up to date CPU and GPU hardware is capable of in terms of performance. There are two coins that rely on Yescrypt at the moment, these are GlobalBoost-Y (BSTY) and Unitus (UIS), though UIS is a multi-algorithm altcoin. Below you can download the CPU miner for mining Yescrypt that we’ve used for the tests and as for the GPU miners, we have already published them here on the website – the djm34 fork of ccMiner and sgminer with Yescrypt support as well as the latest ccMiner fork from SP.

Performance results for Yescrypt:
– Intel Core i7 5820K CPU: 5.22 KHS
– AMD Radeon R9 280X GPU: 0.793 KHS
– Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 GPU: 1.124 KHS

ccminer-djm-edition-yescrypt

We have compiled a Windows binary for the new ccMiner fork by djm34 (source) that now has support for NeoScrypt and Yescrypt GPU mining on Nvidia-based video. Our Windows binary is compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 6.5 and supports Compute 3.5, 5.0 and 5.2 GPUs, you can download and try it from the link below, there is an example BAT file setup for testing hashrate for the two new algorithms. We are getting more than 1100 Hashes per second on GeForce GTX 980, so better than the performance from a Radeon 280X with the sgminer fork. On a GeForce GTX 750 Ti we are getting very good performance as well with close to 600 Hashes per second or slightly less than on Radeon 280X. Do note that there is still more to be desired from the GPU miner as it is not faster than mining Yescrypt with an up to date CPU, for example a single Intel Core i7 5820K CPU achieves around 5.1 KHS mining GlobalBoost-Y (BSTY).

miner-control-164-kbomba-280x

We have not updated our Miner Control tool package for AMD Radeon R9 280x GPUs for a while, so it was time to release an updated package using the latest Miner Control v1.6.4 KBomba-Mod and the newest sgminer 5.1.1 along with update for the services and pools used (NiceHash, WestHash and YAAMP) as well as the supported algorithms – X11, X13, X14, X15, Lyra2RE, Keccak, NeoScrypt, WhirlpoolX and Qubit. Do note that the package also includes AMD OpenCL DLL files from older drivers, you may want to remove them to use the OpenCL from the driver you have currently installed or play with the OpenCL from a different version of AMD’s drivers.

To be ready to use the Radeon R9 280X package you just need to update the account settings for each pool to reflect your BTC payment address. Do note that the default configuration that we have set is mining from time to time for the author of the software (Miner Control) as a donation alternative, but you can change that setting should you wish to. Also note that the package contains some of Wolf0 optimized kernel binaries for higher performance in some of the X algorithms. The 280x package is intended for a single Radeon R9 280X card, though you could use it for others AMD GPUs as well or more cards – what you may need to reflect however in the config file is the total hashrate and power usage as well as maybe some of the startup settings for the different algorithms as the default ones are optimized for 280X.
