New GMiner 2.04 With Support for the New KAWPOW Algorithm

It did not take long and now the latest GMiner 2.04 GPU miner had added support for the new KAWPOW mining algorithm that RavenCoin (RVN) might/could/should/would be forking to sometime in April. The KAWPOW algorithm is a derivative of ProgPOW with parameters specific for RavenCoin, so another miner with ProgPoW support will not work unless specific RVN support is added like in the case of GMiner that already had ProgPoW support, but needed an update for KAWPOW support. Do note that support for KAWPOW is currently only available for Nvidia GPUs and that goes for ProgPoW as well. New XMRig 5.10.0 Miner With AstroBWT AMD GPU Mining

The latest release of the XMRig 5.10.0 comes with support for the AstroBWT algorithm on AMD GPUs, besides the already available CPU mining support, along with some optimizations for the algorithm used by the DERO project since a fork switching the algorithm earlier this month. another important change in the miner is that the cn/gpu algorithm is now disabled by default and will be removed in next major release (v6.x.x), as well as a major TLS (Transport Layer Security) subsystem update. As far as AMD GPU performance on the AstroBWT algorithm compared to CPU mining, an AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB does seem to produce a hashrate slower than that of a mid-range CPU. A higher-end processor such as AMD Ryzen 3900X could be as much as 4 times faster than a RX 580 GPU, so AMD GPU mining may not be that attractive for AstroBWT.

The latest GMiner 2.03 GPU miner adds support for the Qitmeer (PMEER) mining, however do not be in a hurry to try mining using the Cuckoo24 algorithm that has been just added. Have in mind that the Qitmeer (PMEER) mining support comes with a 5% developer fee and is apparently CPU intensive, so you might have trouble using the latest GMiner with Qitmeer (PMEER) mining on mining rigs with most typical dual-core lower performance processors. Frankly we are a bit disappointed that the official release notes do not mention the higher developer fee for the new algorithm, nor that it is apparently heavier in terms of CPU requirements.
